Before we jumped on a plane bound for Indonesia, we stayed in California for a month after several spent separated. We went to explore Santa Catalina Island, one of California's hidden gems. We swam with Emi's favorite fish, the Garibaldi, named after an Italian solider who wore orange onto the battle field. The garibaldis are a symbol of California now and a protected fish. They can live up to 17 years.
