PUERTO ESCONDIDO, MEXICO
Junior Lifeguards /// Interviews /// Puerto Escondido

Ocean conservation is a critical movement since it's the seven seas that sustain life on Earth. While we must protect the ocean from pollution, degradation, and the effects of a changing global climate, it is also important to recognize that humans also need protection from a rough and wild ocean. In Mexico's Puerto Escondido, world famous for its swells that generate massive waves, the lifeguards started up a free program to educate local kids on ocean safety and teach them lifesaving skills. To be a junior lifeguard at Playa Zicatela is no easy feat. Meet some of the local groms who are taking on the challenge with humility and a lot of guts.
