In collaboration with the Yánesha Indigenous community and their local primary school, we facilitated an open mural project. The artwork was co-created and post-produced alongside local children, their teacher, elders, and ecologists. The finished art is an ode to social, ecological, and spiritual well-being, conveyed through vibrant imagery that entangles humans and more-than-human beings.
The process began with local children painting scenes from their everyday lives. As the mural evolved, older women on their way to and from harvesting their land began to stop by the school, contributing brushstrokes before and after their work. Their participation brought intergenerational depth and grounded the project in ancestral knowledge and care.
Facilitated by artist and Coast 2 Coast co-founder Emi Koch, the mural is a celebration of place and all those who call a place "home."
