"Martes Foto" is a weekly photography class lead by Henry Espinoza Panta, a local photographer and surfer, who was first mentored by the Lobitos Cinema Project and WAVES for Development to cultivate his talent for picture-taking and now, Henry is engaging other local youth in his community to see their daily lives from different angles, perspectives, and viewpoints.
In Peru, more than 47% of women and girls are affected by physical violence, according to a recent report from the Demographic and Health Surveys Project. Led by Kat Goicochea, an audiovisual artist from Lima, Peru, we facilitated a photography workshop specifically for the girls in Lobitos, Peru to share their stories in a community where women generally lack a safe-space to voice their dreams.
