"Martes Foto" is a weekly photography class lead by Henry Espinoza Panta, a local photographer and surfer, who was first mentored by the Lobitos Cinema Project and WAVES for Development to cultivate his talent for picture-taking and now, Henry is engaging other local youth in his community to see their daily lives from different angles, perspectives, and viewpoints.
Kardi is a young boy growing up in Buho Buho, an isolated fishing village on Morotai Island in Indonesia. Some might describe Kardi as hyperactive. Kardi dropped out of school when he was little to start working and because he couldn't bare to sit still in the classroom. With a camera in hand, Kardi took charge of his own education through experimental learning, something that doesn't exist in rural education. Kardi documented the daily life in his village, highlighting the children, the Sea Wall, food, and surfing.
