"I would love to be Illescas" | Animation | Sechura, PERU

Students from I.E. San Martín reimagined themselves as the Illescas National Reserve, located near their hometown of Sechura. Through a collaborative creative process, they explored and reflected on themes such as empathy, care, and environmental conservation, bringing to life characters inspired by the reserve's fauna.

Throughout the workshop, their perceptions of the reserve transformed—from seeing it as a distant, unfamiliar place to feeling a deep sense of connection and belonging. The title of their animation, “I Wish to Be Illescas,” speaks to this shift. It reflects the students’ growing curiosity and their heartfelt desire to be part of the reserve’s living ecosystem.

This animation celebrates local biodiversity and powerfully expresses young people’s emotional and imaginative bond with nature.
