UPCYCLING

KODI BENGRE, INDIA

C2C teamed up with our friends at the Shaka Surf Club to launch an upcycling initiative with the young surfers of Kodi Bengre, a small fishing village in southern India.

The kids took trash off their local beach and instead of burning it, we stuffed the trash into plastic bottles until they became hard like bricks. Youth from opposite sides of the fishing village (Hindus and Muslims) came together to build a peace bench between the two distinct sides of the community, at a local fish shop.

The workshop meant to demonstrate the various ways we can reuse materials discarded on the beaches and work together in peace through creative positive actions.
